More blogs and an extra twitter snapshot – Day 3 Career Carnival
@workbloom (USA)
I don’t know Kevin Donlin, but I often see his work being pushed out across twitter. I’ve read some of his blogs at www.workbloom.net . I’ve chosen Three Networking Tips from the Pros, though in honesty I could have chosen many more.

@JobHuntOrg (USA)
Susan P Joyce has a C.V. of her own that shows both an academic and practical experience of advising job seekers on line for over a decade through her companies NETability and Job-HuntOrg I have chosen to feature her piece entitled 8 Twitter Power SEO Tips for Job Seekers offering great advice for anyone currently using or intending to use twitter in the job search.

@MNHeadhunter (USA)
MNHeadhunter is the pseudonym of Paul DeBettignies, who started writing his blog in 2005 under the business name of Nerd Search. L.L.C. The blog has expanded from a few musings on recruitment, to a fully serviced site that features guest blogs and helps not-for profit organizations and the local community. The power of the written word.
I’ve chosen to feature a useful blog from Lorraine Russo on How to decipher the meaning of interview questions.

@Andyheadworth (Team GB)
Andy is not really a recruiter anymore; he is actually a social media guru. I love Andy’s blogs because he combines funny with serious message. As you may no, in the UK we have a disaster prone Prime minister, whose not actually very good at his job. I’ve chosen Andy’s blog entry from www.sironaconsulting.com six tips to help 57 year old Gordon find a new job, for two reasons, it made me laugh and it addresses the serious subject of helping older candidates. See what you think.

@JTOdonnell (team U.S.A.)
I’ve been a fan of JT’s since I first heard her defending her profession against snarling recruiters on the Animal Recruiting Show. I like her approach to personal branding and the great advice she gives on being a professional job seeker. I could have featured 10 entries, but I’ve gone with a video interview entitled 5 Things EVERY Job Seeker should know about themselves. Great tips, worth watching.

@ThomasShaw (team Aus)
Personally I don’t use facebook, not because I don’t like it, but I’m too busy on twitter and fed up of the quizzes. Lot’s of people swear by it though, so in the interests of balance I have included a blog from Australian Thomas Shaw on using Face book for recruitment. Think like a recruiter, this presentation will help you to use the same tools to get noticed. (Well I wasn’t going to feature his last blog, why we hate recruiters, but you can find it here.)

@Siteadvisor (team UK)
Keith Robinson, a UK job board and recruiting legend has set up www.careersiteadvisor.com to help job seekers work through the maze of job boards to find the best opportunities. This is complimented by a live series of interviews with career thought leaders in recruitment. I’ve featured a great live interview with @MattAlder on personal branding. Matt understands social media better than anyone I know, and gives great advice for job seekers on social media. Watch the whole series, it will help you.

@AlisonDoyle (team USA)
Alison Doyle is a veteran career advisor and HR expert. I realized that I had not included anything on cover letters in this week’s career carnival. Given the importance of this subject, I knew exactly where I could find these resources, at www.about.com. As well as advice on cover letter writing, you will find lots of other tips and free tools here.

My Top 3 tips: Extend personal brand on resume; make sure the results are revealed; consistency with your documents crucial
@BillBoorman (Team GB)
I’m not a career adviser, I work with recruiters worldwide, but I couldn’t miss the opportunity to slip in a guest blog entry from Jeff Lipschultz blog entitled How Will You Be Remembered Tomorrow? Hope you enjoy!
http://jefflipschultz.wordpress.com/2009/06/22/how-will-you-be-remembered-tomorrow/
Thanks to everyone who has contributed and pointed me in the right direction, being a simple recruiter, I’ve learnt a lot from lots of experts. It’s never been easier to access help and information. Lots of people, many of them strangers are very willing to help. Use them all in your quest for opportunity. Tomorrow you’re going to crack it!
Bill
PS: I will be running some late entries over the next two days. you can still feature your thoughts by contacting me with a link on twitter or by e-mailing bill@billboorman.co.uk.
